Sugar for Your Tea

Sugar for Your Tea is a worldbuilding centered project that shows an imaginary world built and run on sugar.

Using physical computation, I created a miniature sugar cube dependant world. It has a working train, working lights, and is entirely made with real sugar cubes. The sculpture is 28 inches in diameter.

Framing the City

Framing the City focuses on transforming data into a visual within the context of the observations

Over the course of 4 weeks, I analyzed traffic patterns outside my bedroom window and translated the collected data into a miniature 3d sculpture.

Using Arduino linked to an LCD screen, I coded different-sized circles moving horizontally across the screen to symbolize cars, trucks, people, bikes, etc., moving past my window. Depending on the day of the week and the time, the activity on the screen will differ depending on what my data has determined is “usual”. To add context to the data, I laser cut a small white room for the screen to display in, along with a small 3D-printed bed to furnish.
